Make Art Time Easy and Make progress through Small Exercises

Here are some fun and creative warm-up activities for your art classes:

1. **Connect the Dots Game**:

   - **Materials**: Grid paper, markers.

   - **Instructions**: Each player takes turns drawing a line between two dots. The goal is to complete squares. When a player completes a square, they mark it with their initials. The player with the most squares wins.

2. **Tic Tac Toe with a Twist**:

   - **Materials**: Paper, colored pencils or markers.

   - **Instructions**: Instead of Xs and Os, each player chooses a different shape or symbol to draw. Encourage kids to come up with creative symbols.

3. **Target Practice**:

   - **Materials**: Paper, scissors, tape, paper balls.

   - **Instructions**: Draw and cut out a target. Tape it to the wall. Kids can crumple paper into balls and try to hit the target. You can assign different points to different parts of the target.

4. **Paper Football**:

   - **Materials**: Paper, markers.

   - **Instructions**: Fold paper into a triangle football. Draw a small football field on a piece of paper. Kids flick the paper football across the field, trying to score touchdowns.

5. **Pictionary**:

   - **Materials**: Paper, markers, a list of things to draw.

   - **Instructions**: One player draws a word or phrase while the other players guess what it is. This can be done on individual sheets or a whiteboard.

6. **Collaborative Drawing**:

   - **Materials**: Large paper, markers.

   - **Instructions**: One student starts a drawing and passes it to the next student, who adds to it. Continue until everyone has contributed. This can create a fun and unexpected piece of art.

7. **Drawing Challenges**:

   - **Materials**: Paper, markers, a timer.

   - **Instructions**: Set a timer for short bursts (1-2 minutes) and give quick drawing prompts (e.g., draw a cat in a hat, draw a superhero, etc.). These quick challenges can help get the creative juices flowing.

These activities can be a great way to warm up the class and get the kids excited about creating art.
